After the events of Honor Among Thieves, Sly was faking amnesia and living with Carmelita Fox. This causes the rest of the gang to go their separate ways, with Bentley and Penelope working on various inventions. One of these inventions was a time machine and while working on it, Penelope just up and disappeared. As Bentley was searching for her, he noticed that the pages of the Thievius Raccoonus were disappearing before his very eyes. He got the group back together and used his time machine to travel back in time to find out what was going on.
