The Dwarf is a close-ranged fighter, boasting powerful melee and defensive capabilities. To help him with the defensive aspect, he has an ability called Pump Up that allows his defense to increase by simply holding down one of the buttons. He also has other abilities that improve his attack, adds fire to his attacks, as well as grapple moves.
One of the playstyles for the Dwarf is to utilize his grab moves, as they can be considered as some of his most powerful. Whether the enemy is in the air or on the ground, the Dwarf can grab them and toss them into other enemies or into the ground, opening up an opportunity for combos.
