Broken, and all hope lost Kratos lunges to his death off the Suicide Bluff cliffs.
Three weeks earlier
Kratos has been servicing the gods for many years now. He travels the Aegean sea, where Poseidon, the god of the sea has sent him to kill Hydra. As Kratos fought, Zeus called upon Athena to warn Kratos of Ares impending invasion on Athen. After he defeated Hydra Athena told Kratos that if he stopped Ares the gods would forgive his passed sins.
While arriving in Athen's he came across the The Grave Digger, an old man digging a grave in the midst of a war. The man told Kratos he will be there to help Kratos "when it seemed like there was no hope". He fought his way through Athens and manage to save an The Oracle. In return for saving her she revealed the means to kill a god, Pandora's box.
As instructed Kratos left Athens to make his way through the Desert of Lost Souls. He summoned Cronos and with his Cronos he managed to climb the Titan to the summit where the temple remains. Ignoring the Cronos Kratos continued through the realm to retrieve Pandoras Box. Sensing that Kratos has succeeded Ares threw a pillard which hit him in the stomach pinning him to the wall. As Hades took Kratos, many Hades appeared and took Pandora's box back to Ares.
Kratos managed to esccape the underworld by climbing a mysterious rope. when he got to the top the rope had been dropped by the grave digger. When Kratos asked how this was possible the grave digger replied simply "Athena is not the only god following your progress"
While he was in Hades, Ares managed to take over Athens. Kratos then took Pandora's box to unleash it's power onto him. Shortly In battle Ares sucked Kratos into his subconscious making him relive the event when he killed his wife and daughter. In the process he had to defeat many replicas of himself that are trying to kill his family. Kratos then defeats all replicas and Ares then removes the Blades of Chaos from his arms and kills his wife and daughter.
He's transported back to reality but with no weapon. Ares goes for the final blow but Kratos dogdes it and is reveiled the final gift from the gods, the blade of the gods. Kratos then pierces this through Ares killing his former master.
The nightware was finally over and Kratos asked the gods to remove the painful memory of his past, Athena then stated that the gods can only forgive him for his sins, the nightmare must stay with him forvever. Feeling abandoned Kratos made his way to the Suicide Bluffs and hurled himself over the cliff. As he hit the water Athena brought him back to the top of the cliffs. She explains how he done well and offered him a position in the gods. Kratos made his way to his throne to become the God of War.
