This version of Wargoyle is completely grounded (unlike Riku's which is airborne). As such, this Wargoyle is a merciless melee fighter, unleashing a seemingly-endless barrage of long-reaching attacks.
Fortunately, a lot of Wargoyle's barrages are followed by a period of vulnerability, usually with Wargoyle dizzy on the ground. This is your opportunity to launch attacks.
The battlefield is usually populated with flagpoles and Faithline orbs, however they are all absent now. You'll need to lure Wargoyle to the nearby tents if you want to take advantage of Flowmotion attacks.
All-in-all, if you constantly stay on the move, only attack when Wargoyle takes a moment to rest, and keep Cura/Potion Commands in stock, you should clear the fight pretty well.
Be wary when battling Wargoyle in the Secret Portal. His stats are very boosted, making it a lot easier to fall. Worst of all, this fight is a good way to lose your Spirits. Constantly use Curagas to keep you and your Spirits alive.

| Float like a butterfly, sting like a gargoyle. This fiend can do serious damage from a distance, or swoop in for a one-two wallop with its twin hammers. | ||||||
* Second encounter only.
Wargoyle is faced again during the Traverse Town revisit. In a Boss Rush-style event, Spellican revives Hockomonkey, Wargoyle, and Chill Clawbster to fight Sora in the Third District. The stats of each boss are smaller, however so is the playing field, so take advantage of Flowmotion and try not to get caught in a corner.
Wargoyle especially offers some trouble because of the smaller playing field, however this particular iteration is susceptible to Sleep, so take advantage of that to slow him down.
