One of the two playable characters. Sora is a young boy from Destiny Islands whose life changed forever when his home was swallowed by the darkness. Now a chosen Keyblade Wielder, he has been traveling from world-to-world, fighting the darkness. He is now joining his friend Riku in taking the Mark of Mastery exam to strengthen his powers.

One of the two playable characters. Riku is Sora's childhood friend. He was chosen to wield the Keyblade before Sora, however his heart was enveloped by darkness. At this point, he is able to control the darkness in his heart to fight for good. He is joining Sora in taking the Mark of Mastery exam.

The king of Disney Castle and a Keyblade Master who was trained under Yen Sid. He accompanies Sora and Riku to the Mysterious Tower for their Mark of Mastery exams.

Mickey also appears in two Sleeping Worlds—Country of the Musketeers and Symphony of Sorcery—that are set in the past when he was still training to become a Keyblade Master.
