History
The only race in the Horde not native to Azeroth, the orcs have had to overcome many hardships to find their place in the world. Once, the orcs cultivated a shamanistic society on the lush world of Draenor, but when the demonic overlords of the Burning Legion discovered their planet, they soon corrupted the simple orcs and turned them into one of their most effective fighting forces.

The Legion used the orcs (now unified under a single banner as opposed to being divided into multiple small clans) to assault the world of Azeroth. Though their victory was almost assured at one point, the wayward orcs ultimately failed to act in unison, and the Horde devoured itself and collapsed. The defeated orcs were rallied into internment camps, and as years passed by, the Legion's hold on the orcs loosened. Finally, a young warchief named Thrall rose and freed his people from their shackles, and under his leadership, the orcs once again embraced their shamanistic heritage and sailed across the Great Sea to Kalimdor, to find a new home for themselves.
Thrall's New Horde, now also including the vicious trolls of the Darkspear tribe and the fierce tauren of Kalimdor, eventually played a crucial part in stopping the Burning Legion's second invasion of Azeroth. After that, they established the city of Orgrimmar on the harsh eastern coastlands of Kalimdor.
