The World Series Racing events make up the single player campaign in GRID 2, but within those tournaments you will compete in a variety of different game types/modes.
The following is a list of the different types of races to be found in the game.
Race
Your basic vanilla race. Standard racing rules are in place, with similar vehicle types and classes facing off against each other in your typical race around a track.
Eliminator
Eliminator events are similar to standard races, where similar car types face off against each other on a set track. The difference is that the car in last place is eliminated at regular intervals until only one car remains.
There is no lap count; players keep racing around the track until the last one remains.
Drift
Drift events are competitions where you attempt to accumulate as many points as possible by pulling off impressive drifts. The longer the drift, and the more you're able to chain together without breaking your flow, the more points you're awarded.
Checkpoint
Checkpoint events are similar to traditional checkpoint-based objectives found in classic racing titles. The aim is to make it through a course of checkpoints in as fast a time as possible.
Faceoff
Faceoff races are similar to standard races, however you only have one opponent - a difficult to beat rival - and must beat them to the finish line.
