EverQuest Next is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), and the next entry in the EverQuest franchise, being developed by Sony Online Entertainment. While no release date has been mentioned, the game is very likely to be released on Microsoft Windows (no other platforms were talked about) sometime in 2014. The game will utilize the Forgelight Engine, emphasizing more realistic game characters, as well as lighting effects.
EQ Next takes place in a parallel timeline, in Norrath, and is not directly related to previous entries in the EverQuest franchise. There will be familiar places and names, but the game will have its own lore. The game will feature fully destructible environments, thanks to using a voxel graphics style, as well as an improved AI system that allows enemies to adapt to situations and learn from them.

Gameplay
EverQuest Next is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game and as such, it will have many basic elements that most MMORPGs have. For example, EQ Next will have a races and classes when players start a new character. EQ Next is also trying something different in MMORPGs, such as a fully destructive environment.
Races
EverQuest Next will feature a number of races for players to choose when creating a character. Not every race has been revealed so far, and only two have been shown in-game.
Classes
Classes in EverQuest Next aren't set up to how they normally are in other MMORPGs, where the player would pick one at character creation and be stuck with it throughout that character's life. Upon creating a new character, players will be able to pick one of eight different classes. As they explore the world, they will be able to gain access to plenty of other classes.

EQ Next Landmark
EverQuest Next Landmark is a separate release from EQ Next, scheduled to release later in 2013, and will be free-to-play. Landmark is the sculpting tools that the developers of EQ Next use to create the land, buildings, and other things in the world. It will allow players to explore the lands of Norrath, gather materials and then use said materials to craft whatever they want. The general gameplay will be somewhat similar to Minecraft.
