Steve Downes provides the voice of the Master Chief for the Halo franchise. Downes was chosen for the role because of his relationship with Bungie Studios music lead Marty O'Donnell. When the Halo movie was still on track, there was some discussion of casting Downes as Master Chief, but because the movie derailed, there was never a casting announcement on the Master Chief. Steve Downes' main job is as a disc jockey in Chicago.
