Report: Crytek's Deal with Amazon Helped Save the Developer

Crytek struggled financially last year and even had problems paying its employees. Several sources have told Kotaku that Amazon has now come in and helped the developer out via a licensing deal that will allow Amazon to use Crytek's game engine, CryEngine.

Crytek's Deal with Amazon Helped Save the Developer

One of the sources quoted in the report states that the deal was worth around $50 million, while another said it was $70 million. The sources have remained anonymous and did not say what Amazon intends to actually use the CryEngine for.

Crytek co-founder Faruk Yerli had said they'd struck a big licensing deal earlier this year, but did not go into any details at the time. Expect Crytek to release more information in the near future.
