Many gamers are surely excited for the release of God of War: Ascension tomorrow, but many reviews released in the last week has given rise to a controversy surrounding the name of a trophy that players can unlock, which has offended some reviewers and early players of the game.
Many reviewers noted the trophy, entitled "Bros before Hos", allegedly follows an extremely violent scene directed towards one of the game's female protagonists, giving it an unfortunate, possibly unintentional misogynistic message within the context provided by the scene. However, Santa Monica studios has stated that a day-one patch will change the name of the trophy to "Bros before Foes".
"We have created and will soon push out a patch for God of War: Ascension that alters the title of one of the game Trophies,” said Santa Monica Studios. “The text was offensive to some members of our community and impacted their enjoyment of the game. We are endlessly committed to ensuring that our community can fully enjoy the experiences the team has created. As such, we’ve addressed the feedback and amended the Trophy in question."
It's important to remember here that it isn't just the text of the trophy that reviewers and players have had issue with, but the context it gave to the scene that preceded it (which, of course, I don't know specifically what that is, since I've yet to play the game).
Look forward to our God of War: Ascension review later this week for our take on the game, as well as the possible controversy.

Brandon Fusco... I thought this was God of War? Not that I'm necessarily encouraging the particular type of behavior but having a little more sense/backbone should be required before you're allowed to buy the game.
