Earlier today in a Nintendo Direct conference, Satoru Iwata has unveiled new information regarding the world of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
As many know, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a sequel to the 1991 classic, A Link to the Past, so both games take place in the same world, but with different 'Link' characters and stories. This world takes place many years after the original, where (Spoiler alert), the evil Ganon was sealed away using the power of the triforce, and as such this version of link is different from the one we knew back in the early 90's.
Since the theme of this game, much like its predecessor, is a link between worlds (like in the title), a new gameplay mechanic has been revealed, wherein Link can flatten himself into a moving painting on a wall to slip into a technicolor crack in the wall, only to pop out the other side in the other world. In A Link Between Worlds, the main overworld is the same one used in A Link to the Past, but the alternate world is one unique to the sequel. This isn't the corrupt golden land, this is something else.
The logo reveals that there are two triforces represented in this game: The original, golden triforce of power, wisdom and courage, and a second, shadow triforce whos purpose and details are not yet known. Is this a reference to Zelda II: The Adventure of Link? Time will tell, and more information will be revealed between now and the November 2013 release date.
