You may well be angry if you're a Destiny fan with an Xbox One, because Bungie have made a large chunk of their upcoming DLC - The Dark Below - exclusive to PlayStation consoles. Some of you may be so angry that you want a refund for the game, but if you're going to use that as an excuse for getting a refund then you may want to think twice.
If you've ever tried to get a refund from Microsoft then you know it's never easy, which may be why these redditors didn't want to use honest reasons for demanding a refund.
But if you explain that you feel the product was falsely advertised, and show Microsoft the thread about refunds, you'll likely receive this sort of reply:
“I totally understand, Dustin, and let me be honest with you on this one, and straightforward, making sure that we’re not hitting around the bush. I appreciate your kindness and being nice, despite of your request. I do apologize however we really cannot refund the charge for you just because others are asking for the refund for the game. We’ll have this investigated, as we already filed and submitted a ticket regarding the post in forums that was posted. We’ll have those profiles and gamertags check, as well, as this may be a form of fraud.”
This has prompted the Reddit mods to chuck a warning at the top of the page:
Do not try to lie to Xbox Customer service to get a refund on Destiny content. It is illegal. It is fraudulent. It can result in a permanent ban on your Xbox profile and a loss of all your digital content.
Clarifying: There was apparently a guide out there that gave step by step instructions on how to lie to customer support in order to get a refund.
Update 1: I've received reports (cannot attest to whether they are true) that GTs are being recorded if people contact support regarding a Destiny return. That same rep also implied that they may be checking this forum.
Update 2: Support has said: " we are not issuing any refunds for the said game that we are having issues with right now. If you want to get more information about this matter, you may reach out Bungie Support for further assistance."
Update 3: Fraudulent behavior will result in a ban, but "As long as you play by the rules, you have nothing to worry about." They cannot go into any more detail than that otherwise troublesome users may attempt to circumvent the regulations.
