Adéwalé is a former slave, turned pirate, and the quartermaster of the Jackdaw in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Born into slavery in Trinidad, Adéwalé escaped aboard a pirate ship and was welcomed among its crew.
In 1715, Adéwalé was captured by Spanish authorities and found himself chained alongside the pirate Edward Kenway. Breaking free and incapacitating the guards, the two took control of the Jackdaw and Adéwalé became quartermaster. The next year Adéwalé first encountered the Assassin Order during Kenway's trip to Tulum. Seeing in them a people who fought for something greater than themselves, Adéwalé joined the Order.
