The Beam Rifle is similar to the Human Sniper Rifle and is capable of firing accurately over long distances. It is slightly more powerful (though generally not noticably so) than the Human Sniper Rifle and doesn't need to be reloaded but if fired too quickly, it will overheat. This weapon also fires more slowly than its human counter part and has a maximum of 10 shots while the Human Sniper Rifle tends to have at least 12.
It is important to pace your shots when using this weapon and only fire twice quickly when you are sure it will result in a kill. Keep in mind that it is much easier to track the purple energy beam back to its source than it is to track the human sniper rifle.
