The Designated Marksman Rifle is the standard weapon of most marines and Spartans stationed on Reach. It is very accurate when fired at a medium pace and comes with a scope, allowing for precision shooting over relatively long distances. As you shoot, the reticle will flare outward, indicating that the weapon is becoming innaccurate. A skilled marksman balances that flare against the range of their target the maximize the amount of damage done.
