Things are quiet on Marston Ranch until one day Edgar Ross appears with a government army, attacking the farm. Uncle is shot and killed. John Marston tells Jack and Abigail to run while he attemps to defend the ranch and his family. Marston, located in a barn, attempts to shoot down as many of the federal agents as he can, but they open fire and shoot him multiple times. Ross looks at the body before leaving. Jack and Abigail find Marston's body in the barn and bury it along with the body of Uncle.
The epilogue occurs three years later. Abigail has passed away, and Jack returns to the ranch to bury her beside his father. Jack then sets out to get revenge against Ross.
He discovers a newspaper article detailing Ross' retirement. Jack locates Ross' wife, who tells him that Ross is on a hunting trip with his brother. Jack tracks down the location and argues with Ross, accusing him of murder. Ross threatens to kill Jack, and the two end up dueling. Jack kills Ross in the battle and rides away on his horse.
A newspaper article is then shown, detailing the fate of Marston's other companions. Leigh Johnson retired from his job as Marshal and moved far away, Abraham Reyes became a tyrant leader in Mexico,Bonnie MacFarlane got married, Irish shot himself in a gun accident, Seth Briars found a treasure and became rich, and Landon Ricketts passed away in his sleep.
