Overview
The audio in Madden 13 has received some drastic changes in comparison to previous editions, with changes to both soundtrack and to the in-game commentary. These include:
-
The removal of EA Trax, which has been present in previous editions. Instead of using songs from various artists the soundtrack instead consists of a fully orchestrated, original score composed by Colin O'Malley, used on the menu screens and other game modes.
-
A new "Madden NFL 13 Theme", also composed by Colin O'Malley, which is played as the beginning of the game as well as during quarter breaks,, halftime and at the end of the game.
-
Over 82 hours of commentary from Jim Nantz and Phil Simms, with over 9000 lines recorded. Many of the lines are ad-libbed and the two have many regular interactions.
-
Improved crowd noise, recorded at games with 24 microphones (in comparison to 4 microphones previously).
-
Sound clips taken from games for tackles, hits, QB cadences and huddle chatter.
