World Map
Paper Mario: Sticker Star mirrors the first three games' "chapter book" format of progression in which Mario completes a small episodic chapter before fighting a boss, collecting a landmark item, and then moves on to the next. However, it deviates from the first two games in having a world map which Mario physically walks on between zones. These levels are revisitable like the ones in Super Paper Mario and are similarly numbered in the 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 World format reminiscent of Super Mario Bros. Comet Pieces, fragments of the broken Sticker Star, mark the exit of each level. However, some levels have more than one Comet Piece, some leading to alternate exits.
Paperize
Inside levels, Kersti's "Paperize" ability allows Mario to collect "Scraps" of the landscape around him that are not where they should be or are arranged improperly. These can be rotated and moved to solve puzzles.
