The Bafflewood is a variant of the "forest maze" levels throughout the Mario series. The path splits endlessly if Mario takes a wrong turn and warps him back to the start, where a self-updating signpost will taunt him by counting the number of times he has become lost. With trial and error and a bit of memory, Mario can find his way out of this stage and into W3-3.
