Shin Megami Tensei IV is a role-playing game developed and published by Atlus for the Nintendo 3DS. The game is a sequel to the PlayStation 2 role-playing game, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, although it's not a direct sequel. Exploration takes place in third-person, while the battle system is in first-person. The game takes many elements from previous games in the Shin Megami Tensei series, as well as incorporating some new things.
The story follows Flynn, a young man from East Mikado and a new samurai, along with Walter, Jonathan, and Isabeau, all of whom Flynn had met in a dream before. Meanwhile, a Black Samurai is causing chaos throughout Mikado and the new recruits are sent to hunt her down and put an end to her evil.

Story
Every year in the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado, all children who have turned 18 that year make a pilgrimage to Mikado Castle to take part in what is known as the "Gauntlet Rite," a traditional ceremony to determine a person's worthiness to join the elite ranks of the Samurai, noble warriors and protectors of the realm. You and your friend Issachar are from a simple village, and today is the day that your life may change forever...
Gameplay
Shin Megami Tensei IV is a Japanese-style RPG that is similar to its predecessors. While traversing the dungeons and overworld, the game is in third person, while battles take place in a first-person view. The game utilizes a demon negotiation/fusion system like in the past games.
Demons
Demons are both your enemies and allies in Shin Megami Tensei IV, of which there are over 400 different ones. The Demons in the game are separated into different races, which greatly impact the Fusion mechanic, as well as possibly the kind of skills they will learn. There are two main ways to get new Demons to join your team, which is by using the Talk skill to persuade them to join, or by fusing those you already have into a new one.

The game is available to preorder at most retailers, brick & mortar, as well as online. By preordering the game, customers get a bump up to a limited edition, which includes a slew of extra goodies. Included are the following:
DLC
Shin Megami Tensei IV has had DLC released in Japan, and it will also have DLC released in North America, with some set to come out on the game's launch. Some of these items will be free and purely cosmetic, while other items will allow you to quickly level up and even recruit new demons.
