The Banner Saga is a tactical role-playing game developed by Stoic Studio for Microsoft Windows. It was officially released via Steam and Direct Download on January 14, 2014, and is considered Chapter 1 of a planned trilogy. The game is a fantasy title that is set in a Viking-themed land, focusing on a strong narrative with plenty of dialogue choices that affect the story.
The project initially went up on Kickstarter on March 19, 2012, and met its actual goal of $100,000 within its first two days. After all was said and done, the campaign raised over $700,000, with a total of at least 20,000 backers. A standalone multiplayer component of the game, titled The Banner Saga: Factions, was released on February 25, 2013.

The Banner Saga is a tactical role-playing game that is inspired by its predecessors, such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Shining Force. In additional to its battle system, the game also boasts a robust conversation system, where the player can make choices that has an impact on outcome of the game.
