Game Modes
Single Player
Single player is a campaign/career oriented mode, where the player starts as a novice and upcoming racer. The player is gradually introduced to new types of races with levelled tiers and faster cars.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer mode is an online-competition based race series, where a player spends some money to enter a room with 5 other opponents. The objective of the player is to beat all the other 5 racers, one by one, and in return, collect Respect Points with each race, and prizes for wins.
More information about Multiplayer mode can be found in the following section here.
Race Types
Races are of various types:
- Regulation Races
- Restriction Races
- Daily Battle
- Rival Races
Each type of race has it's own perks, such as Regulation Races being repeatable, and are classified into Rookie, Amateur and Pro.
For more information on Race Types, see the following section here.
Tiers & Bosses
The single player mode is divided into five tiers, with each tier the difficulty of the races gradually increases and the player being introduced to newer, faster and more challenging to handle cars. To move on to the next tier the player must race and beat the crew boss.
Each tier, racing crew, has its own boss that is the toughest competitor within the tier. After beating the boss to move on to the next tier the player can challenge the boss to a high stakes rematch. If the player wins the race they are awarded the boss' car and the price of the race is recovered. However, if the player loses, the price of the race, 5 gold is lost.
Difficulties
Races are divided into four difficulties, shown as a bar below the race length.
Easy (1 bar) : The player's car is superior than the opponent's and it shouldn't be difficult to be won.
Challenging (2 bars) : The player's car is slightly above with stats than the opponent's car and with decent shifts and a good start the opponent is defeatable.
Hard (3 bars) : The opponent's car is at the same stats or slightly above the player's stats. These races are tough unless the player's car is upgraded and can be won with perfect start and shifts. Good timing of Nitrous is important.
Extreme (4 bars) : The opponent's car is superior to the player's. Nearly impossible to defeat even with the best timings. Best to stay away from these races until the player's car has been upgraded enough to compete with the opponent's car.
Unique Controls
Unlike most racing games, which focus on steering and braking, CSR Racing offers unique controls in the form of timing gear changes and the use of the nitrous upgrade by tapping the screen. When timed right, the car accelerates and reaches it's highest of speeds faster and does the least burnout permitted by the upgrades applied to the car.
The control buttons to be used are Gear Up, Gear Down and Nitrous Boost. Nitrous Boost offers best performance when fired at around second or third gear, depending on the car.
Fuel
Fuel is the freemium tool that regulates the amount of time a person can play the game. Players are provided 10 fuel slots, which auto-regenerate at a rate of about 60 seconds per slot. As with most freemium models, more fuel slots can be refilled using premium currency.
Money
Winning races earns the player cash, which can be spent to upgrade their cars, add decals that earn cash bonuses per race, or buying a new vehicle from the 'Car Dealer'.
In addition to earning cash players can also win Gold by leveling up, winning in the multiplayer mode, or as an premium purchase. This can be used to purchase special cars, decals, skip delivery times for new upgrades, and instantly 'refuel' their cars.
Vehicle Stats
Vehicle Stats in CSR Racing are given by four componential stats and one overall stat. The componential stats are as below -
Power
This stat indicates the power the engine of the car. Higher the value, higher will be the force of acceleration provided by the car's engine.
Weight
This stat indicates how heavy a car is. The lighter the car, the faster the car picks up speed.
Grip
This stat indicates how efficiently the power output by the engine is converted into acceleration and how much power may be lost in wheel slip.
Gearbox
This stat indicates the time taken by the car to switch to the next gear and start accelerating in it.
Overall
The overall stat indicated near/beside the car's name/tier number gives an overall idea of the performance of the car.
