Bowser Jr. has appeared in five other games in the Super Mario series, usually as a boss and serving his father, Bowser.
In New Super Mario Bros., he takes control of the Koopa Troop in his father's place when he becomes Dry Bowser. He is the boss of every tower in the game, where his abilities differ depending on when he is fought. His father and him are defeated in the end by Mario.
He appears as a boss three times in Super Mario Galaxy, then fires cannons at the steps in the final stretch leading up to Bowser. In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, he is once again fought three times, although he uses a Koopa Clown Car in all three fights.
Bowser Jr.'s first appearance in Super Mario Galaxy 2 has him summoning Gobblegut to fight Mario. After that, he is fought twice, using robots in the fights. In New Super Mario Bros. U, Bowser Jr. appears as a boss once, with his other appearances being hindrances to Mario.
