Vergil is the twin brother of Dante and the main antagonist of all of Capcom's Devil May Cry 3, in which he seeks to undo the seal of Sparda hidden within the Demonic Domain to claim the entirety of their father's power for his own, regardless of the effects this will have on the human world.
In major difference between the original Devil May Cry and the rebooted DmC is that both Vergil and his twin-brother Dante are nephiliim, half-demon and half-angel. Eva, their mother, was still killed when the two were young boys by Mundus and their father was exiled for loving her. Separated to protect their identity, Vergil grew up to become the leader of the "terrorist" organize called The Order and spends his time fighting to defeat Mundus.
