Laharl is the demon prince of the Netherworld and main protagonist of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. After awakening from a long slumber, Laharl discovers that his father, King Krichevskoy, has died and his vassals are gone. Proclaiming himself the true Overlord of the Netherworld, Laharl and Etna, his last vassal, set out on a quest to reclaim his throne.
Laharl is incredibly arrogant and self-centered, always trying to prove he is the strongest demon in the Netherworld. This behavior leads to his appearance in almost all following canonical games as a secret boss, where he is obsessing about reclaiming his position as the "main character" or to simply gain more screen time.
