These are the Animal Buddies who help Donkey and Diddy in the game.
- Rambi the Rhino - can be ridden by Donkey Kong and can plow through enemies. Rambi can also safely traverse spiked ground and can break through blocks with his symbol on them.
- Squawks the Parrot - can be purchased in Cranky's shop. Squawks is used in levels to find hidden puzzle pieces by flapping his wings and squawking when the player is near them.
- Tutorial Pig - minds the checkpoints and prompts the Super Guide mode.
