Toad first appeared in Super Mario Bros to tell Mario that the princess is in another castle, since then Toad has mostly appeared as a background character or in various of Mario spin offs. Most of the staff who looks over Princess Peach are toads, toads can have a variety of colored circles on their heads. Since the first Mario Kart Toad has been a selectable driver, in Mario Kart Wii Toad is a small character and owns the course Toad’s Factory.
