As soon as you go to Cornelia, you will view a length cutscene, with your next objective being to get to Saronia. Unfortunately, it's not a simple journey and will require you to go through a bunch of other places to get to it. To start, talk to the Cactuar Conductor and choose the "To the north" option. Upon first arriving at Pyreglow Forest, you get a tutorial about the Sizzle ability.
| Some Mirages have abilities that can be triggered in the field that help unlocking new areas on maps. For example, Sizzle can be used to burn down some obstacles. As long as you have a Mirage with the appropriate ability in your active team, they will automatically use the ability when you approach a designated spot. |
Before doing anything, return to Nine Wood Hills to find a door to a mysterious room. You will be introduced to the Girl Who Forgot Her Name, a NPC that offers a few services. At certain points in the game, you will acquire something called Arma Gems. These items can be exchanged here to gain access to Intervention Quests, as well as purchasing Champions. At the moment, you should only have 5 Arma Gems, and there are two Quests that you can do and one Champion available for purchase (each one costs 2 gems). Return to Pyreglow Forest once you're finished.
Pyreglow Forest
| Mirage | Size | How to Imprism |
|---|---|---|
| Cockatrice | M | Physical attacks |
| Dualizard | M | Reduce HP |
| Moogle | S | Restore HP |
| Mu | S | Physical attacks |
| Reaver Mu | S | Fire attacks |
From the gate, follow the linear path until you come to the first dead end, where you'll find a chest with 2 Rememb Herbs in it. The other dead end at the top of the map houses another chest with a Phoenix Down in it. Continue to the second area and you'll find your first vine at the dead end near where you entered. This is where you need a Mirage with the Sizzle ability, as it will burn through it, allowing you to get the chest behind it (Thunder Seed). The Black Nakk in The Watchplains has it, as well as the Cockatrice in this dungeon.
Continue along, grabbing the next chest you see (3 Gold Hourglasses), until you happen upon another Murkrift. This one is level 13, so ignore it for now if you feel you aren't ready, and grab the chest nearby to get 2 Wobblestoppers. All but one of the dead ends in the third area have anything to get; the final dead end is the one with a chest that contains a Remedy. Enter the fourth area and you'll find a chest at the end of the dead end here (HP+ Seed). Take the path that leads to a save point, then enter the new area to watch a cutscene and face the next boss.
BOSS - Yuna and Valefor
This can seriously be a challenging boss fight, as you are facing two strong opponents. Yuna is the weaker of the two and should be concentrated on to get rid of her as soon as possible, as you will see why. Valefor has a physical attack and she can also cast Aero on someone, while Yuna has her normal attack and can use Water. It isn't until shortly into the battle that you will see why this fight can be difficult, as both Yuna and Valefor will stack.
While they are stacked, their physical attack's damage is increased and you will see some new spells, mainly Protect, Shell and Cure. Should you see Focus being used, their next attack will be Energy Ray, which is capable of dealing upwards of 400+ damage, so make sure you defend to cut it in half. Try to use attacks with good topple strength (medium or high), while keeping an eye on your health, and whenever their stack is toppled, continue bashing Yuna. Keep doing this until you finish the battle.
There will be quite a bit of chatter after the battle is over and once it's finished, move onto the next screen to trigger another cutscene. Doing this will make some new wares available at Chocolatte's store, as well as some new battles at the Coliseum. The one battle you can probably do, which will allow you to actually imprism a Valefor. There should also be a new sidequest available in Cornelia, which wants you to defeat 8 Goblins (the specific one, not any of the species). When you're finished, go back to Forest Lake and continue along the path, opening the chest in the way for a Teleport Stone. Enter the Ice Region to begin the next chapter...
| The Teleport Stone is an unlimited item that when used, will teleport you back to the beginning of the dungeon. |
