Baseball for Wii Sports is played only with the Wii remote and can be played between two human players, both players need their own remote. Both teams are made up of 9 players (Mii’s from your Wii’s memory will be put on your team) and there are only three innings in the game instead of the regular 9. The game consists of only hitting and pitching, the fielding and baserunning are controlled by the CPU. When on the hitting side you hold your remote like a bat and swing when the ball is about to go over the plate. If you hit it but it only gets to the pitchers area you're out, also if you get three strikes you also are out. On the pitching side you do a throwing motion / flick with remote in a downward motion to do a simple fastball.
To go more advance into pitching you can do a curve ball by holding down “A” when you throw, “B” to throw a screwball and “A” + “B” to throw a splitter. Like regular baseball all usual rules are in place when you are doing a single player game mercy rule is in effect, this rule stops the game if in the 1st or 2nd inning a team is leading by more than 5 they are declared the winners. When you play a single player game you gain experience to join the pro skill level, this allows you to play against harder computer players and you can eventually play the baseball champion Sakura.
