Rayman Legends' gameplay is very similar to that of Rayman Origins. It is a 2D platformer, where players run, jump, fly, swim, punch and kick their way from one end of the level to the other, collecting Lums as they progress and freeing captured Teensies.
Rayman, Globox, and Teensies return as playable characters. A new character has also been introduced (Barbara), and an old franchise character returns (Murfy).
Like Rayman Origins, much of the game's music is synced to the game's action, and the latest game brings in even more musical set pieces.
The newest and most unique feature of Rayman Legends is its use of the Wii U Gamepad. Another player can use the tablet to control Murfy, who zips across the screen to help Rayman and his allies. This also allows the total amount of simultaneous players to increase from four to five.
