Brick belongs to Borderlands' Beserker class. He's the 'tank' character, highly proficient in melee combat, explosives, and rocket launchers.
Background:
Brick is the archetypal bad-ass, no-nonesense character with a soft side. His gloved fists and boots are adorned with bolts and screws. His missing sister is his reason for being on Pandora, and he considers it his mission to find her.
The necklace he wears around his neck features the paw of his now-deceased dog, Priscilla, who features in the opening video of the game alongside a younger version of Brick.
Gameplay:
Brick's proficiency with melee combat means he's ideally played as a tank, or brawler. This is reinforced by his three skill trees: Brawler, which focuses on his melee abilities; Blaster, which enhances his weapons skills (especially explosive weapons); and Tank, which focuses on his ability to endure combat. And his 'Action Skill', Beserk.
His special ability or 'Action Skill', Beserk, allows him to go into rage. Whilst he loses the ability to wield guns in Beserk, he gains rapidly regenerating health and vastly increased melee attack speed. While in Beserk mode Brick is controlled with the analog sticks and by using the 'aim' button for a powerful but slower left hook, or the 'shoot' button for a quicker but weaker right jab.
Trivia:
- Brick's Tier 4 skills refer to movies: Master Blaster is the name of a character in the third Mad Max film, Beyond Thunderdome; Bloodsport is also the name of an action movie; and Unbreakable is the title of a film which stars Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson.
- His tier 3 skill, Die Hard, is also a reference to another film starring Bruce Willis.
- In the expansion pack, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, the characters feature on Wanted posters. Brick's bounty is the highest, at $9,999,999.99 (all of the others have bounties of $1,000,000.00).
- Brick is voiced by the actor Marcus M. Mauldin.
