There are various Job Classes that the characters can use throughout the game, with Freelancer being the default one. To earn more, they have to finish sidequests and defeat Jobmasters in combat, allowing them to earn Asterisks, which are needed in order to change to that job. Once a job has been unlocked, the characters can switch to that class at anytime outside of combat.
