Norende Village is destroyed at the beginning of the game and it is Tiz's job to restore it. Early in the game, the player can start this mini-game, which has the player restoring the various functions of the village by using the StreetPass and internet features of the game. These functions are actually shops that can be leveled by assigning villagers earned via the previous methods.
At the very beginning, the player only has access to the Armor Shop and Trader, with more opened up by removing the obstacles in the way. What the player needs to do is obtain villagers via one of the two methods above, and then assign them to a building/obstacle. For every village assigned, the time needed to level/remove is lessened.
For example, the Ancient Boulder is one of the first obstacles and takes 10 hours to remove if you only have one villager. However, putting two villagers will reduce that to 5 hours and five villagers will make it only 2 hours. Note that some shops will periodically give you free items, and every shop unlocked will sell their items through the Adventurer (the NPC used to save).
The following are the times needed to remove the obstacles with only one villager, while the following pages will have the data for each shop.
| Obstacle | Time Needed |
|---|---|
| Tangled Woods | 2 hours |
| Ancient Boulder | 10 hours |
| Blackwater Fen | 30 hours |
| Collapsed Bridge | 50 hours |
| Downstream Area | 70 hours |
| Rigid Crag | 99 hours |
Nemeses
Nemeses are optional bosses that are added to your Norende Village map via other players and even by the developers themselves. They appear as black/red shadows and when you tap on one, you will see the recommended level for fighting them, as well as options to Send (done via StreetPass), Protect and Fight.
Your village can only hold 7 Nemeses and upon getting another one, the oldest one from your previous bosses will be removed. That's where the Protect option comes in, as choosing this will keep that Nemesis in your village until you happen to defeat it in battle.
