Nintendo Network is Nintendo's upcoming online service for Wii U and 3DS. It makes numerous improvements on Nintendo's current online system, and is the overarching service behind the eShop and Miiverse. Unlike previous Nintendo online systems, Nintendo Network uses user accounts, which are not tied to hardware and can be logged into on multiple systems. Nintendo Network will be running on Wii U at launch and added to 3DS at a later date.
Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Youtube are all confirmed to be coming to Wii U through Nintendo Network. Similar services are available on 3DS. Nintendo Network will allow players to see what their friends are playing as well as join them in game, and it seems to offer a variety of communication options including personal messages and connection to Miiverse.
