Cranky Kong is a character from the Donkey Kong Country series. He is Donkey Kong's grandfather and is said to be the original Donkey Kong from the very first Donkey Kong game, now in his old age. Cranky offers helpful advice to the Kong family, but not without some sass, hence his name.
Cranky Kong first appeared in Donkey Kong Country, where he gave hints and advice, and in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, he's the curator for the Monkey Museum, this time charging for information. In Donkey Kong Country Returns, he ran the shop where he sold various helpful items. Cranky is also a playable character in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. He can use his cane as a pogo stick to bounce to high areas and safely across some dangerous terrain.
