Forza Horizon is an open-world racing game based around the fictional 'Horizon Festival', set in Colorado, USA and a full 65 different variants of terrain.
Horizon combines Forza Motorsport 4's physics engine and graphics with an arcade style of racing. Like all entries in the series there is a large variety of cars, as well as realistic physics and graphics.
The developers themselves put it like this:
Forza Physics + Open World = Forza Horizon
You encounter AI drivers in the open world and can challenge them to instant races. The overall aim is to progress through the game by obtaining "Wristbands", which are awarded for driving fast and dangerously, destroying property, winning races, and a number of other varied objectives.
There are also be a variety of specialty events and race modes, plus a dynamic day/night cycle (making Horizon the first Forza game since the original to feature night racing).
All of this is set to a modern soundtrack, featuring a host of genres from rock to bass on three different in-game radio stations.
