There are a variety of weapons for use in Kingdoms of Amalur, with each weapon corresponding to one of the ability trees. Every single weapon has a base damage, as well as possibly containing special effects, such as added fire damage (as an example). Weapons have a durability rating, which when it reaches 0, it will "break." Upon "breaking," the weapon only does 1 damage and is still able to be repairing at a vendor or by using a Repair Kit.
Weapons can be found in chests or on bodies in the wild, bought from merchants, or smithed. Smithing a weapon will require you to have two components in order to construct it, which the Blacksmithing skill helps in improving the components and the final product. The Detect Hidden skill helps in finding weapons around in the wild, as it can reveal hidden doors. The Mercantile skill will help you in selling weapons for more gold, or buying them for a cheaper price.
