The entire game environments of Terraria are made up of different types of Blocks. Most of these blocks can be mined by using a Pickaxe. Different types of Blocks require different grades of Pickaxes. There are, though, a few types of Blocks that cannot be mined by Pickaxes. They are:
- Wood: This type of Block requires an Axe.
- Spikes and Glass: These types of Blocks require a Hammer.
- Any Block with Tree: This type requires an Axe.
- Any Block with Chest or Demon Alter on top: This type requires a Hammer.
