Terraria is an action-adventure / role-playing indie game, developed by independent game studio Re-Logic and released on PC via Steam, Xbox Live and the Playstation Network.

The game features exploration, crafting, construction, and combat with a variety of creatures in a randomly generated 2D world. The game has sold more than 2 million copies on Steam.

Exploring the World

Terraria is noted for its classic exploration-adventure style of play, similar to titles such as Minecraft. Basic gameplay features day and night cycles, nocturnal and subterranean attackers, world-building elements, and character advancement. The game has a tile-based graphical style reminiscent of the 16-bit sprites found on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

Environments

The game of Terraria is based on different Environments. These Environments can be distinguished by the different layouts, enemies that appear, item drops etc. Some Enivronments can be erased or changed by others. For example, Forests Environment can be replaced by Hallow or Corruption environment in hardmode.

Crafting

Crafting is an integral part of the game as several items need to be crafted to progress. Players can craft different items at different Crafting Stations. All available recipes show up on the crafting bar of a player's Inventory when he/she is within range of a Crafting Station. The different recipes required for crafting items is listed in the following menus.

Enemies

During the course of the game, players encounter a variety of enemies and bosses. Some enemies are generic and can be found in multiple Environments. While others only appear in their respective Environments. Destroying enemies results in Item Drops. These may be in the form of game money and/or usable items for the players.
