Heart Containers are recurring collectible items in the Zelda series. They are heart-shaped containers that represent Link's life force. By collecting heart containers the player is able to increase Link's maximum health.
Additional heart containers can be created by collecting Pieces of Heart. By collecting four pieces Link acquires an extra heart container.
