Although he didn’t emerge in the WWE until the summer of 1997, Dude Love existed decades before Mick Foley ever became an international superstar. When the young Long Islander grew up dreaming of achieving fame and recognition as a wrestler, it was as this ‘hippie, chick magnet’ he envisioned himself. After a series of interviews with Jim Ross, it allowed Foley to set this personality free, the Dudeness teamed up with Stone Cold Steve Austin to attain Tag Team Gold.
However, after a few months away from the sport (during which time Foley competed as Cactus Jack) Dude Love returned to challenge Stone Cold for the title. Though Mr. McMahon and a number of his ‘yes men’ firmly supported Dude Love, this psychedelic stud could not bring down the Rattlesnake. However, his dudeness may yet return to get some gold around his groovy waist.
