Mr. McMahon’s blind hatred for Stone Cold Steve Austin knew no bounds. No price was too high to pay in his pursuit of putting an end to the “Texas Rattlesnake.” And never was that more apparent than at St. Valentine’s Day Massacre 1999, when McMahon opened his vault and bought the services of Paul Wight. Known as The Giant in WCW, he was a dominant force the likes not seen since WWE Hall of Famer Andre the Giant. McMahon spent millions to have the massive Wight defect to WWE.
And who could blame McMahon? Wight may have been the most impressive athlete in the world at the time. Certainly “The World’s Largest Athlete” is impressive enough, but when an athlete of Wight’s size and strength also has the ability to hurdle the top rope to the floor, as he famously did in WCW, it’s understandable that McMahon would want him for his Corporation.
