Borne of fire and brimstone, the “Big Red Monster” has lived a tortured existence. His mask covers his physical scars, but it’s his psychological scars that form the base of his vow to destroy anything or anybody in his path.
The half-brother of Undertaker and son of Paul Bearer, Kane was horrifically injured in a fire that the “Deadman” set when the two were children. Undertaker went on to become a phenom in WWE. Kane, however, spent years lurking in the shadows, detached from society, reason and, some say, sanity.
Kane’s twisted pain and heartache was put on display for the world to see at Bad Blood 1997. Interrupting the first-ever Hell in a Cell match, the “Big Red Monster” tore the Cell door off its hinges and savagely attacked Undertaker. With Paul Bearer manipulating his son’s emotions, Kane became bent on destroying his brother, which provided the spark for some of the most brutal matches in WWE history.
But, as bitter as their battles have been, the brothers have also joined forces as the “Brothers of Destruction.” As a team, the duo has dominated some of the all-time greats.
