Experts at stealth and surprise, thieves can move through the shadows, vanish into thin air, or steal items from their opponents and use them as weapons. Thieves practice an agile, acrobatic fighting style, which can make them very hard to hit.
Initiative
To power their attacks, thieves rely on a resource called initiative, which regenerates over time. Weapon skills cost initiative points, but they have no recharge time, so thieves can use them back-to-back. This allows thieves to stay flexible and responsive in combat and unleash a rapid flurry of powerful attacks.
Steal
Thieves use the Steal skill to create useful weapons based on the opponents they’re fighting at the time. For instance, when thieves steal from moa birds, they might get feathers that they can throw to blind their enemies. Stealing does not break stealth, and cannot be used often.
Dual Skills
When using a main-hand and off-hand weapon combination, thieves have access to a spectacular Dual Skill that is determined by their weapons. For example, thieves with two daggers will receive the Leaping Death Blossom skill, but thieves with a dagger/pistol combo will receive Shadow Shot, which allows them to teleport to their target.
Special Skills
Thieves make use of a wide range of skills, including Stealth skills and Shadow Stepping.
- Stealth Skills
Thieves have access to skills that allow them to enter stealth mode, which renders them invisible to enemies. When in stealth, their first weapon skill slot is replaced by a powerful stealth skill. For instance, when thieves equipped with daggers enter stealth, they receive a skill called Backstab, which does more damage when thieves strike from behind.
- Shadow Step
With Shadow Step, thieves can teleport into the battle or away from danger. Thieves may only teleport where normal movement is possible and may not use it to teleport through a gate or other blocking area.
