In Animal Crossing: New Leaf the player now takes on the role of the mayor for the first time. With the help of the townsfolk and 'one eager secretary' it is now the player's job to make the town a better place to live.
When you enter your newly created village, a small crowd of villagers, including Isabelle, are crowded in front of the train station to greet their new mayor. Your new secretary Shizue sweeps you to the town hall to get acquainted and register you into the town.
She then realizes that to complete the registration, she needs your house address. She tells you to head to the new Real Estate building in the shopping area and find Tom Nook so he can help you get a house.
Once you find Tom, you can decide exactly where you want your new house to be. After choosing your perfect home location, Tom Nook tells you the house won't be ready instantly so you have to stay in a tent for the time being. So begins your adventure in New Leaf.
