The following are the technical specs currently known for the Playstation 4, as revealed by Sony themselves.
Processors
The PS4 will have a custom accelerated processing unit that is developed in cooperation with Sony by AMD and will be a single-chip that combines both the central processing unit and graphics processing unit.
Central Processing Unit
- Two x86-64 quad-core modules (total of 8 cores) based on AMD's Jaguar CPU architecture
Graphics Processing Unit
- Modified Radeon GPU with a theoretical peak performance of 1.84 teraflops, which can be used for graphics and physics
Memory
- Contains 8 GB of GDDR5 unified system memory
- Maximum bandwidth of 176 GB/s
Hard Disk Drive
- Packaged with a 500GB HDD that is removable and can be replaced with another HDD by the user. The HDD used is a 2.5" laptop hard drive, although the format is unknown at the current time.

Optical Drive
- Read-only and can play both Blu-ray and DVDs. Blu-ray discs are read at 6x constant angular velocity, with a max read speed of 27 MB/s.

- Bluetooth 2.1 and two USB 3.0 ports, as well as an auxiliary port for use with the PlayStation Camera
- Will feature 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, with Ethernet
