The PlayStation 4 (PS4) is a video game console from Sony Computer Entertainment. The successor to the PlayStation 3, it is an eigth generation console along with Wii U and Xbox One. Designed to attact a broader range of developers, the PS4 dropped the complicated Cell architecture for a simpler AMD processor.
A large part of the consoles function revolves around the newly revealed DualShock 4 controller, which features a new "Share" button that allows players to instantly upload the last several minutes of video or live stream their gameplay, and interactivity with other services and devices, including Gaikai, a cloud-based gaming service that will offer streaming video game content; PlayStation App, which will connect smartphones and tablets into a second screen to enhance gameplay; and PlayStation Vita, which will be able to play a majority of the games through Remote Play.
