Gold Skulltulas are special versions of regular Skulltulas, that when killed, will leave behind a token. These tokens, when collected, can be handed into the family at the House of Skulltula in Kakariko Village. There are a total of 100 Gold Skulltulas in the game. Once all Gold Skulltulas have been found in an area, there will be a small Gold Skulltula icon next to that area's name on your map.
Some Gold Skulltulas will only appear at night, so you will need to wait until the sun sets to go after those, or you could use the Sun Song to change the time of day. In addition, some can only be found if you're Young or Adult Link, and some can only be gotten by using certain items, like the Boomerang or Hookshot. Once you have those two items, you will be able to acquire every single token.
Gold Skulltulas will always make some sort of shuffling noise every couple of seconds, so you'll be able to tell if one is in the area by that sound. Furthermore, every patch of soil that can be found houses a Gold Skulltula, except for the one next to Bean Seller in Zora's River. These can be unearthed by capturing bugs in a Bottle, and then releasing the bugs next to a patch of soil.
By returning a certain number of Gold Skulltula tokens, a family member is freed from the curse and will give you an item in return, which are listed below.
