Now that you have bombs, you can collect a few things you couldn't get before. When you gain control of Link after avoiding the death hugs from the Gorons, head down Death Mountain until you spot a boulder on the left. Use a bomb to blow this up and reveal a Gold Skulltula, which you can grab by actually climbing the back wall. If you have a bottle of bugs, then you can grab the Gold Skulltula from the soil patch in front of Dodongo's Cavern's entrance.
Go back to Goron City and get on the same level as the giant rolling Goron. Go to the right until you get underneath a covering and throw a bomb, so that it explodes and stops him underneath there. If you do it right, then he will give you an upgrade to your bomb bag, the Big Bomb Bag, which lets you carry a maxmium of 30 bombs now.
Get to the top level and start going towards the upper left room on your map. You can either use bombs to blow up the boulders in your way, or use the ropes to get there. Once you get there, blow up the east boulder, then the second one, then the west and lastly the north boulder to get to the northeast corner with two Purple Rupees and a Gold Skulltula hiding in the crate.
DEATH MOUNTAIN SUMMIT
Exit Goron City and take the path to the left of the red flag now. Use your bombs to get past the boulders, then start taking the long path. As you start along this path, boulders will start raining down, and you must "turtle" by using the Hylian Shield. When it stops, continue along until it starts again and keep doing this until you get to the climbable wall.
Once you get to the wall, use your Slingshot to take out any Skullwalltulas in your way, as these will smack you and make you fall to the ground. Continue climbing until you get to the top, making sure not to talk to Kaepora Gaebora until you're finished, as he will bring you back to Kakariko Village.
There are two things to do up here, so start with the big boulder and blowing it up with a bomb. Go inside to discover it's a Great Fairy Fountain. Stand on the Triforce symbol and play Zelda's Lullaby, which will summon the Great Fairy. She will grant you a sword technique, which will also give you a magic meter below your hearts.
Next, go inside Death Mountain Crater and you will notice a timer that appears. Since you don't have the proper equipment to be inside here, you can only stay in here so long before you die; if the timer reaches zero, then you will get a Game Over. First thing first, roll into the crate by the entrance and grab the Gold Skulltula. After that, go towards the ledge and you will notice it's a wall that you can climb down. Climb down it and you will find an alcove with aPiece of Heart in it, so grab it and then fall in the lava, which should put you back at the entrance with a full timer.
OTHER ODDITIES
Talk to Kaepora Gaebora now and he'll give you a ride to Kakariko Village, free of charge. You will land on top of a house, but don't jump off yet. Head over to the east side of the roof and look over the side, noticing the overhang that you can jump on to. Do that and go inside the hole to find another Piece of Heart. If you have 20 or more Gold Skulltulas, then go to the Skulltula House to get your second reward, which depends on which version of the game you have.
- Stone of Agony (N64) - With a Rumble Pak equipped, your controller will shake whenever you're close to a Gold Skulltula.
- Shard of Agony (3DS) - A noise and indication of the item have replaced the rumble feature.
HYRULE TOWN MARKET
There are also a few things you can do at Hyrule Market, so leave Kakariko and head there. Your first stop should be the Shooting Gallery, indicated by the bullseye with an arrow sticking out of it. Here, you need to shoot 10 Rupees with your Slingshot and if you hit all of them, you get the Deku Seeds Bullet Bag (maximum of 50 shots if you got the upgrade in Lost Woods).
| NOTE |
| If you need more Rupees for the mini-games, go into the guardhouse when you first enter Hyrule Castle Town and break all of the pots inside to get more Rupees. |
The next stop is the Bombchu Bowling Alley, which is the building next to the stairs close to the Shooting Gallery. You need to send Bombchus to hit three designated targets. The first target is always in the middle and the only obstacle is a Bladespike. The second wall can either be in the middle or on the sides, with an added obstacle being a Cucco. The third target is always in the middle, but the biggest obstacle is added, which is a giant Cucco, so you have to get past three obstacles. The prizes for this mini-game cycle through the following: Piece of Heart -> Bombs -> Bomb Bag Upgrade > Purple Rupee -> Bombchus, then it starts over again (you want the Piece of Heart and Bomb Bag Upgrade, and possibly the Bombchus).
For this next Piece of Heart, it needs to be night in the Market, so play the Sun's Song to make it nighttime. Find the white dog, while avoiding all others, and touch it until it starts following you. Go into the Back Alley go inside the door there, where you'll find a large lady who was looking for her lost dog. Since her lost dog is the white one, she'll give you a Piece of Heart as a reward.
You're going after the next Great Fairy next, so head towards the castle and jump over the gate. You should see a boulder ahead of you, so use a bomb to blow it up and reveal a hole you can crawl through. Play Zelda's Lullaby on the Triforce symbol to summon the Great Fairy, who will give you the Din's Fire magic. That's all for this section, so you can continue on to getting the Spiritual Stone of Water.
